Arts and Crafts Show Reviews 2011 -- April

Greenfield Home Show and Green Fair

Greenfield has a home show every year and for a couple of years now they have included a Green Fair as well. Unlike the big spring  Home Show in Springfield, the one in Greenfield is pretty small.  A few buildings and tents are filled with local businesses giving out little freebies and pamphlets.  Seven AWM artisans were present in one of the small white tents as part of the Green Fair.  All of us recycle and repurpose in very creative ways.

I've always avoided fairs of any kind that weren't specifically set up for arts and crafts.  People go to home shows looking for information and for the freebies that many businesses pass out.  Though they may be looking for estimates, generally they aren't there to buy.  This show pretty much confirmed my belief though it is possible we would have all done better had the weather been better and the traffic heavier.  It was a cold weekend and it rained a bit on Sunday when the winds hit 20 mph and that might have kept people away.

The cost of doing this show was splitting the cost of the 20' x 30' tent--about $46. One of the artisans made quite a few sales but the rest of us only sold a few items.  This isn't one I plan to do again.
